GOVERNOR REVIEWS OVERALL SCENARIO OF N C HILLS

 

HAFLONG, 2nd  JULY,2007: Governor of Assam Lt. General (Retd.) Ajai Singh has directed heads of all the Govt. departments to work hard and with sincerity for making N C Hills district a modern one and said all efforts will be takenup to bring a drastic change in the security scenario congenial for continuing developmental activities. Laying stress on an imperative need for greater commitment and accountability in the system of governance, which has the responsibility of implementing policies and decisions, the Governor authorized Deputy Commissioner of N C Hills Anil Kumar Baruah who is also the Administrator of N C Hills Autonomous Council to take appropriate steps for the same on behalf of the Governor. Reviewing the developmental activities of N C Hills at Haflong Circuit House today the Governor further said, development of any area is possible only when all departments collectively combine with a missionary zeal to work selflessly for the betterment of the lot of the people at large and assured that no interference will be entertained and tolerated for proper implementation of developmental schemes in the district.

 

Ceremonially releasing two books compiled by DIPRO Zahid Ahmed Tapadar and published by the Department of Information and Public Relations namely “ N C Hills : The Paradise unexplored” and “Multi Lingual Word Book in ten languages” Governor of Assam praised the initiative of the Department.

 

Earlier, the Governor of Assam coming from Guwahati by Helicopter in the morning held a closed door meeting at Haflong with the senior officials of Army, CRPF, Police and District administration on law and order situation.

 

During his two days stay at Haflong, the Governor of Assam will visit Haflong Civil Hospital, N C Hills Autonomous Council and DC office and will held separate meeting with each of the development departments and political parties.

 

 

GOVERNOR STRESSES PEACE FOR DEMOCRATIC PROCESS

 

HAFLONG, 3rd JULY,2007: Governor of Assam Lt. General (Retd.) Ajai Singh directed the Civil administration and the security forces to give topmost priority for bringing back the peace and normalcy and assured that as soon as the law and order problem becomes normal the democratic process will be started in N C Hills. During his three days visit to Haflong after taking over the charge of N C Hills Autonomous Council, Governor of Assam today visited the N C Hills Autonomous Council office and instructed the officers and staffs to work with dedication and sincerity for the overall welfare of the people. Today he also reviewed the progress and problems of developmental activities of some important department in the district and put forward his suggestions for the speedy implementation of the schemes.

 

While visiting Haflong Civil Hospital, Governor of Assam instructed to prepare a detailed proposal for upgradation of the health facilities in the district and instructed the Administrator of the Council Anil Kumar Baruah to take appropriate steps for immediate implementations of upgardation schemes by giving proper priority. He also visited Deputy Commissioner’s office for reviewing the process of “e-governance” in the district.

 

After inspecting a huge quantity of arms and ammunitions at the Army Brigade headquarters, Haflong which were recovered by the security forces, Governor of Assam also had a law and order meeting with the senior officials of Army, Police and Deputy Commissioner and instructed to take all sorts of steps to uproot the insurgency from the district.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Earlier, in the morning Governor visited Jatinga Bird Watching Tower and put forward suggestions for attracting tourists and for forest resource development in the district.

 

 

 

 

 

DEMOCRATIC PROCESS SOON IN N C HILLS: GOVERNOR

 

HAFLONG, 4th JULY,2007: The Governor of Assam Lt. General (Retd.) Ajai Singh has assured that the demographic process will be started in N C Hills as soon as the law and order situations becomes normal and for bringing normalcy congenial for continuing developmental activities and for starting democratic process all efforts has already been initiated in the District. He also assured to give priority for setting up of Border Out Posts and for solving the problems of communication, BSNL service, water and electricity in N C Hills. Speaking at various meetings during his three days programme at Haflong Governor of Assam appealed to all the people to work for peace and said, development of any area is possible only when all departments and people collectively combine with a missionary zeal to work selflessly for the betterment of the society and assured that no interference will be entertained and tolerated in the implementation process of developmental schemes in the district.

 

During the visit, Governor of Assam Lt. General (Retd.) Ajai Singh inspected Fruit Preservation Centre at Boro Haflong, Haflong Civil Hospital and Bird Watching Centre at Jatinga and stressed for upgradtion of the infrastructure in the district. He also interacted with various political parties and organisations and visited N C Hills Autonomous Council and Deputy Commissioners office and instructed the officers and staffs to work with dedication and sincerity for the overall welfare of the people. GOVERNOR INNITIATED MEASURES FOR

RESTORATION OF COMMUNICATION IN N C HILLS

 

HAFLONG,5TH JULY,2007:  To solve the burning problems of communications  facing by the people of N C Hills District, the Governor of Assam Lt. General (Retd.) Ajai Singh has already taken some steps. In this regards a meeting with the General Manager of N F Railways and Chief General Manager of BSNL was held today at Raj Bhawan.

 

The Governor was informed by the GM, N F Railways that as an interim measure the railways will unload the essential commodities at the nearest railway station from where the supplies will be transported by road.

 

On enquiry by the Governor regarding the restoration of normal railway link the railway authority informed the Governor that it will take atleast three months to reconstruct the bridge and restore the normal railway link. On this the Governor suggested that the help of army engineers may be sought by the railways to speed up the process of construction of the bridge as the army engineers are experienced in making heavy bridges across difficult terrines in a short time. The Governor will also discuss this issue with the Defence Minister and Railway Minister to move the army to help the railways in establishing this important railway link much before three months.

 

After the intervention of Governor regarding the security of the BG project of the Lumding-Silchar railway line additional forces were deployed on the site and four more companies of CRPF will be coming to the site for this purpose. The Governor also said that the railways should speed up the process of construction as the security issue has been addressed by both the State Government and the Centers adequately. General Manager assured that after arrival of these four companies work will start in full swing.

 

In regards of the poor telecom service in N C Hills the Governor of Assam asked the Chief General Manager of BSNL to give high priority to improve the telecom services in the district and the CGM of BSNL has assured that they will install new towers within one month to improve the service in N C Hills.
